Precision Beyond Tailoring Shops

As a professional suggestion, it’s best not to alter your suits at all — have them made to fit perfectly from the start and maintain your body shape through discipline and consistency. Always hang your suits on professional wooden hangers, and rotate them by wearing a different one every other day to let each suit rest.

Because the proportions are precisely fixed according to the original pattern, and the padding and canvas structure are logically fused, the seam allowance is usually around 0.8 cm, with certain areas allowing up to an inch for slight body changes. However, letting out a suit is nearly impossible without compromising its integrity — it only makes the garment appear less refined.

At LB, every adjustment is made with a designer’s eye and a sartorialist’s hand. We look beyond measurements to the full silhouette. A sleeve isn’t shortened in isolation — it is balanced against the jacket’s shoulder and body. Trousers aren’t just tapered — they are cut to follow the natural line of the leg. This holistic approach ensures that every change enhances the garment, not just corrects it.

Deep Knowledge of Construction

Years of working with suits at the highest level have given our team an intimate knowledge of how garments are built. We know the difference between full canvas, half canvas, and fused construction — and how each responds to alteration. We understand hand-padded lapels, floating chest pieces, and the subtle stitching that holds luxury garments together. This knowledge allows us to adjust with confidence while preserving the integrity of the suit.
